The sofa system involves several layers of mattresses stacked on each other and tied in place by a rope. The layers have a variation of different fabric and inspired by the stacking method common in the tents during. The cord expresses flexibility, inspired by both the tent but as well transport and trade. Digitally Fabricated Bookshelf by dbd Studio

dbd Studio have designed digitally fabricated bookshelf of storage for household items at a condo in Washington, DC. The bookshelf made of 17 sheets of 3/4″ birch plywood.

From the designers:

The owner had a severe lack of storage for household items, as well as no display options for objects collected from his worldwide travels. The large bookshelf serves as both an art piece in itself and a functional storage/display system. An organic curving surface was created in Rhino that stretched from floor to ceiling and overhead, terminating at the existing bulkhead. 17 sheets of 3/4″ birch plywood were then CNC milled to notch together and form the undulating, gridded mass.

Over the years he has developed not only architectural but also expography, scenography, furniture and interior design projects, as well as movie features.

Awarded several times by the Instituto dos Arquitetos do Brasil, in 2005 he was recipient to the Ex aequo Award at the VI Bienal Internacional de Arquitetura de Sao Paulo. As a filmmaker, he has produced several short movies and the long-feature movie Fogo e Paixao, in 1988
